In Nevada, public mental health care is run by the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH), whose Bureau of Behavioral Health, Wellness and Prevention serves as the state mental health authority and whose clinics and hospitals serve Las Vegas, Reno and Sparks, and rural counties. Call or text 988 to reach Nevada 988, which DPBH administers and which is staffed by counselors based in Nevada. NAMI Nevada, based in Reno, oversees four regional affiliates that offer free support groups and classes.

If you want to talk but aren't in crisis, the Nevada Warmline at 775-241-4212 connects you with a trained peer from 9 AM to 10 PM every day. Young people 24 and under can text the Nevada Teen Peer Support Text Line at 775-296-8336 from noon to midnight.

Most of Nevada's specialty mental health care sits in two places: the Las Vegas Valley and the Reno and Sparks area. In the south, DPBH's Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services runs clinics in Las Vegas and Henderson plus behavioral health centers in Mesquite and Laughlin, and in the north, Dini-Townsend Hospital in Sparks is the only public psychiatric hospital serving Northern Nevada. For the rest of the state, DPBH's Rural Clinics run 16 outpatient clinics across 12 counties, from Elko and Ely to Pahrump and Tonopah, with crisis teams for both youth and adults. Crisis Support Services of Nevada, in business for more than 60 years, answers 988 for Northern and Rural Nevada. UNR Med in Reno and the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV both train psychiatrists and see patients.
