In Oregon, public mental health care is overseen by the Oregon Health Authority's Behavioral Health Division, which works with counties, providers and communities, and local crisis services are reached through each county's Community Mental Health Program or by contacting 988. Lines for Life is Oregon's home for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, and it also runs YouthLine and a Military Helpline. NAMI Oregon offers a Resource Helpline at 503-230-8009 on weekdays, along with free support groups online and in person.
If you want to talk with someone who has been through hard times too, the David Romprey Oregon Warmline at 1-800-698-2392 offers free, confidential peer support 24 hours a day.
Oregon's crisis plan aims to give everyone someone to call (988), someone to come to them (mobile crisis teams, plus Mobile Response and Stabilization Services for youth and families), and a safe place to go, such as a Crisis Stabilization Center. Each county has a Community Mental Health Program, and that's the local door to crisis and ongoing care wherever you live. OHSU's psychiatry clinics are in Portland, and OHSU opened the Unity Center for Behavioral Health there with Legacy Health, Kaiser Permanente and Adventist Health; adults in crisis can walk in to its psychiatric emergency service without an appointment. Outside the Portland area, NAMI Oregon runs online support groups open to every Oregon resident 18 and older, as well as local groups in places like Bend, Prineville, Springfield, Corvallis and Salem. Oregon State Hospital provides psychiatric care for adults from across the state who need treatment at the hospital level.
